Future
Growth Standards –
As a former Planning & Zoning Commissioner and current City Council member,
I have seen numerous standards put in place to regulate the look of our city as
it grows. These regulations are extremely important to ensure our city remains
the greatest place to live, work and play for the future. We don’t want to look
back in 10 or 20 years with regrets but rather with a sense of accomplishment
and pride. In early 2000, the city released the Millennium Plan, which
was further updated in 2006 to reflect changes in development standards,
economic conditions, and overall changes that have taken place in our world
over the past few years. It is a comprehensive document outlining the proposed growth of our city. It took
an enormous amount of time and research and will help ensure that Frisco grows
as a unique city. It is also designed so that city officials can control the growth
that we are experiencing, and will continue to experience, rather than having
the growth control our decisions going forward. This award winning Millennium
Plan, the Tollway Overlay and the Preston Road Overlay that the Planning department,
the City Council, the Planning & Zoning Commission and other committees have
worked on will result in higher development standards throughout the city and
will provide Frisco with a unique look and great future.
